Deck: Postcards from the Liminal Space
To heck with it, I’m just going to be honest: it annoys me that I pulled this card.
I pulled it yesterday so I would have plenty of time to reflect before sitting down to write this transmission today. Frankly, this deck has so many more interesting and exciting and visually appealing cards…why did it have to be THIS one?
But this card is here, and so am I. So I’m going to set aside my own aesthetic preferences for a moment and see what the medicine is.
In the August Creativity Transmission, I talked about how the Queen of Pentacles invites us to ground the water of our emotions with the earth of our bodies. And how sometimes, we can get lost out to sea in our feelings about our creativity. When we’re in this murky, submerged space, the element of earth can offer a container for those tricky emotions.
“Is it true there is no other?”
When the stories of doubt arise:
“I’m not good enough.”
“I’ll never make it.”
“I’ll never be chosen.”
“I’m not cut out for this.”
“Who am I to try?”
Who is the “I” here? Who’s doing the talking? Is it your soul? Or is it your ego?
And yeah: I know a lot of “ego talk” gets annoying. The ego is not something to be eliminated or dominated. A healthy ego is necessary in order to exist as humans on this plane.
But your brain is very good at talking you out of your soul’s most electrifying pursuits. Your brain’s job is to keep you safe and alive. What is known is safe. Daily routines. Regular routes. Expected activities. Do just enough to stay alive—and no more, your brain whispers.
Yet your SOUL is bigger than that. Your soul is infinite space. Your soul is connected to the spiralic all of everything—it knows what it came here to do.
Your wild creative heart is an expression of your soul’s calling—and it will often ask you to step outside of what’s know.
Subvert the routine. Try the new route. Make something no one has ever made before.
Your brain will scream danger (and try to make you feel all sorts of uncomfortable things) but your soul will cry YES.
“Is it true there is no other?”
You are a part of the infinite web that is the intricate, unfathomable whole of everything.
When you feel fear: honor it (first, always) but also,
When you feel fear, note the pulse of electricity beneath it.
The vibrating field of aliveness that tells you you’re on the right track.
When you feel fear, thank your brain—because not only is it trying to keep you safe, it’s also sending you a message.
Fear like that can only mean one thing: you’ve tapped into the wild pulse of your soul, the electric thread of your heart’s calling.
Feel the fear.
And then keep going.

A Practice for Tending Your Creative Fears
When fear around your creative expression arises, don’t shy away. Give yourself permission to feel it.
Find a quiet space. Sit down and make yourself comfortable. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Invite your fears and anxieties to sit with you.
First, you’ll simply observe the fears. What are they? Where do they show up in your body? Spend some time simply being with them, noticing any and all sensations (both physical and mental.)
Then: energetically feel into the space beneath your fears. Can you sense your soul’s reaction to your creative pursuits? Does your soul experience the same fears and anxieties as your brain, or does it feel…something else?
If there is something else, what does that feel like? (Electricity? Excitement? Anticipation?) Spend some time with these subterranean sensations.
See what realizations emerge.
When you are ready, come out of your meditation. I highly encourage you to journal the transmissions you received from your soul.
